Types of Treatment

EMDR

Play Therapy

Play Therapy is a treatment method used to engage younger clients through creative and imaginative play. We typically use Child Directed Play Therapy where we track and reflect behaviors, emotions, and statements from children through play.  Play is the language of children and has been shown to have positive therapeutic results for kids ages 3 and up by increasing understanding of emotions and allowing expression of emotion in in an unstructured but therapeutically guided way.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Most therapy sessions include some form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, actions and self believes are all connected. As strengths-based practitioners, we will help you understand and use your internal and external strengths and resources.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps increase awareness of maladaptive behaviors and thinking patterns.  DBT teaches skills to reduce faulty thinking and  increase  positive behavioral changes. Through DBT, self-destructive behaviors, intense emotional responses, and poor communication skills are targeted and challenged.  Clients gain awareness and learn to accept themselves, cope with distress, and manage their emotions to help “build a life worth living”.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness and body awareness has been heavily researched in the last few decades with great therapeutic outcomes. We offer teaching in mindfulness, guided meditation, and gentle movements if that is suitable for you in our unique healing journey.

*We offer couples counseling for individuals in monogamous, open or polyamorous relationships.

Most sessions will be a combination of these modals. We do our best to provide you with education on the type of treatment you are receiving and it is always our goal to include you in your treatment decisions.
